Sophie Archer is a qualified MBACP registered integrative counsellor with 5 years of experience working in mental health.
She has supported children, teenagers and adults from diverse backgrounds who present with a wide range of concerns. Her areas of specialism include stress and anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, depression, addictions, LGBT-related issues, family and intimacy-related problems, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem work, career concerns, coping with life changes and ADHD.
Sophie’s practice is rooted in a person-centred foundation where establishing trust and rapport is central to the work. She draws on an eclectic mix of theories to meet each client’s needs - including solution-focused techniques, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment theory, transactional analysis, mindfulness and psychodynamic ideas. Across approaches the focus remains on amplifying the client’s existing skills and resources to reach personalised goals.
In sessions Sophie strives to offer a genuine, positive and respectful experience, recognising that clients are the experts in their own stories and have strengths to draw on when facing challenges. She acknowledges the courage it takes to seek support and provides a non-judgemental presence for those aiming for change or simply looking for someone to listen. Sophie looks forward to supporting and empowering clients in their therapeutic journey.
