Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I gained my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2011 and have both volunteer & professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, coping with grief and loss, & motivation, self esteem, and confidence as well as various other problematical areas of life. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I am pleased to say that I have been described as “down to earth” and “real” in my work which has always worked well with my clients. I also seem to have developed a healthy and well timed sense of humour when the occasion demands. I believe it relevant for the client to know the therapist is equal with them.

This forum does not provide any type of emergency services, so I want to be sure you know who to contact if you need immediate help.
It takes courage to reach out for help even when its being offered and to take the first steps towards a change. I work in an eclectic style calling upon a number of modalities to suit the clients need. But my work will always be Person Centred with the client at the heart of our work at all times. Three words are always at the centre of my work. CHOICE – RESPONSIBILITY – AUTONOMY. And I will work with you to regain ownership of them in your world. I will endeavour to check my messages a couple of times each day so I sincerely hope not to leave you awaiting my response for too long. I look forward to meeting you.
I am also a writer and Spoken Word poetry performer.

Peter Thompson gained his Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2011 and has 14 years of volunteer and professional experience supporting people through a range of difficulties.
He works with individuals facing stress and anxiety, relationship challenges, grief and loss, motivation and self-esteem concerns, and other problematic areas of life. His approach is to create an open, safe space where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgement, and he intentionally treats the therapeutic relationship as one of equality between therapist and client.
Peter describes his practice as eclectic in style while remaining firmly person-centred, with the client at the heart of the work. Three words sit at the centre of his practice: CHOICE – RESPONSIBILITY – AUTONOMY, and he aims to help people regain ownership of those aspects in their lives. He has been described as “down to earth” and “real” in his work, and he finds that a well-timed sense of humour can be helpful when appropriate.
If urgent help is needed or a crisis arises during therapy, Peter asks people to be aware of the relevant emergency contacts for the UK and Republic of Ireland: Emergency 112 or 999; Non-emergency 111, Option 2; 24/7 Helpline 116 123 (UK and ROI). Additional resources include Shout – text “DESERVE” TO 85258, Samaritans (https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us), and YourLifeCounts (https://yourlifecounts.org/find-help/). He reminds people that the forum does not provide emergency services and to contact the appropriate numbers if immediate help is required.
Peter endeavours to check his messages a couple of times each day and aims not to leave people waiting for a response for long. He is based in the United Kingdom and is also a writer and Spoken Word poetry performer.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and major life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Research and clinical practice indicate that these types of issues can be successfully addressed through remote work with a therapist.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. People can connect in the format that best suits them – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit therapy into everyday life and routines.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may switch therapists at any time if they feel a different fit would be better. Online therapy provides a range of options to help people access consistent, professional support when they need it.
