Laura West

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I discovered my natural passion in Psychotherapy and Counselling during my extensive professional nursing career as a Registered General Nurse of 17 years working within the NHS across two different hospitals. I naturally gravitated towards specialist roles within my career to enhance more opportunity to work and support patients and their families requiring emotional and psychological support. Within my more recent years practicing as Macmillan Breast Cancer Specialist Practitioner, supporting patients and their families through their individual treatment journeys. It was within this role my passion for counselling and psychotherapy grew and therefore made the decision to focus on my new career path and completed a diploma in Psychotherapy & Counselling and now an accredited Psychotherapist & Counsellor.
I work with integrated models of therapy and have gained qualifications to utilise psychodynamic concepts within my approach, however I value and consider the value and influences of the humanistic and person centred approach. This was harnessed and developed from my extensive nursing experience.
My aim is to support and work with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges and to naturally and to aid the natural navigation to reach their individual goals of positive and effective change and enhance their well-being. I am committed to provide a safe and therapeutic experience and environment for the safety and wellbeing for all my clients and a member of the National Counselling Society. Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

One of the main benefits is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that feels most comfortable, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.

All therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and if a different therapeutic fit is needed it is possible to switch to another therapist. Online therapy can be a practical, accessible way to get consistent support while working toward meaningful change.
