Kevin Bagwell is a professional counselor with deep roots in the human services field. He earned a Master of Science in Counseling from National Louis University in 2001 and has worked in human services for 25 years, including nearly two decades practicing as a therapist.
He maintains professional licenses in both California and Michigan - licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in California (LPCC #17520) and as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan (LPC #6401009233) - and is certified in Michigan to supervise limited licensed counselors who are working toward full licensure.
Over his career he has provided services in nonprofit settings, Community Mental Health, at Vanderbilt University Psychiatric, and in private practice. He has substantial training and experience treating family relational problems, depression, trauma (including adults with a history of or current experience with sexual or physical abuse, neglect, and domestic violence), ADHD, addictions, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He has also worked with clients experiencing psychosis, including counseling and making referrals for psychiatric assessment and diagnosis.
Kevin approaches therapy with warmth and unconditional positive regard, prioritizing a therapeutic bond grounded in trust and respect. He uses an eclectic, client-centered approach tailored to each person’s goals and needs, drawing from modalities such as Solution-Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential approaches, Family Systems work, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
He encourages those taking the first step toward help, noting that research shows taking action to address problems can produce meaningful benefits. Kevin looks forward to supporting and guiding individuals through their own healing processes.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life transitions, research shows that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person care for most individuals.
One major benefit is convenience. Clients can meet with a therapist in the format that fits their schedule and comfort level - video sessions, phone appointments, live chat, or messaging within an app - which makes it easier to maintain consistency and build momentum in treatment.
Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change providers if they feel a different match would be better. This flexibility can help people access the support they need and keep therapy aligned with their goals.
For many, online therapy offers an effective, adaptable way to address everyday mental health concerns and to take actionable steps toward improved well-being.
