Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Kathryn Sherfield, a fully qualified counsellor offering short and long term therapy to a broad range of clients who have an even broader range of needs. I am able to adapt our session to meet your needs. I am a kind and caring person offering sessions to suit you in a sensitive and non judgemental way. I am familiar with a variety of therapeutic counselling models and enjoy creating a rapport with people. I am experienced in working with a range of different client needs which you can read about in my profile. I am able to adapt sessions accordingly with empathy and warmth toward you if you choose to work with me.
I hold the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling CPCAB. I am a registered and accredited member of the NCPS (The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society).
The therapy that I offer is person centred, which means that instead of solving problems for you, my role is to provide a safe space to discuss any issues and support you in developing your own awareness and strategies. It is your journey, I simply walk alongside you. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, working together will enable you to deal with current issues, and will help raise your self-worth and confidence and leave you with the tools to cope in the future.
It is really important to me that you take the first step to look for support by finding a therapist to connect with and begin your journey.
I look forward to hearing from you to offer a warm and welcoming environment with no judgement.
As I said earlier, I mainly use a person-centred approach to my sessions but bring in other modalities to suit the individual, the idea is to be there for you, helping you confirm things you already know but possibly doubt in yourself, or to show you how making small changes will gain you the knowledge to deal with what you are going through in order to change your thought process.
Trust and mutual respect are the cornerstone of effective therapy.
So, I make a strong commitment to you:
To be available to you so you have regular, reliable support.
To maintain strict confidentiality in line with professional practice and the law.
To treat you as an equal, not to judge you and to provide a safe atmosphere for you.
To fulfil my role in a professional and ethical manner
To start and end on time. Sessions are 45 minutes.
To offer a quiet and undisturbed space
To maintain safe, professional boundaries
To regard all contact and information as confidential unless there is reasonable doubt concerning the safety of the client or others. Please also see below the confidentiality policy.
To review therapeutic work and working relationship regularly
In the event of me cancelling, I will give as much notice as possible, and alternative appointment will be offered.
With couples therapy, I will use the same techniques and boundaries and help you both to the best of my abilities, I will listen to both of you and mediate between you if needed. I focus on helping the couple to look at their relationship, sometimes from another’s perspective, to repair where we can and to develop skills to move forward.
I believe in reinforcing the good and the positives in the relationship. in some circumstances, sadly, couples therapy can show us that the couple is ready to move away from the relationship and we can do this in as peaceful and respectful manner as possible.

Kathryn Sherfield is a fully qualified counsellor based in the United Kingdom, offering both short-term and longer-term therapy to people with a wide range of needs. She adapts sessions to meet each person’s requirements and creates a warm, sensitive, non-judgemental space to help clients explore their concerns.
She holds the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) and is a registered and accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). Her main approach is person-centred therapy, and she also draws on additional therapeutic models to suit individual needs. Kathryn values building rapport and works with empathy and warmth to support clients in developing greater self-awareness and practical strategies.
Kathryn believes therapy is the client’s journey and sees her role as walking alongside them – helping to confirm insights they may already have and showing how small changes can support different ways of thinking and coping. She aims to help people address current issues, enhance self-worth and confidence, and leave therapy with tools for the future.
Trust and mutual respect are central to her practice. Kathryn makes clear commitments to be available for regular, reliable support; to maintain confidentiality in line with professional practice and the law while recognising exceptions where there are concerns about safety; to treat clients with respect and without judgement; and to work in a professional, ethical manner. Sessions run for 45 minutes and are started and ended on time. She provides a quiet, undisturbed space, maintains professional boundaries, reviews therapeutic work and the working relationship regularly, and if cancelling will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment.
When working with couples, Kathryn applies the same techniques and boundaries, listens to both partners and can mediate when needed. She helps couples view the relationship from different perspectives, supports repair where possible, and teaches skills to move forward. She also focuses on reinforcing positives in the relationship, and where therapy indicates a couple may be ready to separate, she aims to support that process in a peaceful and respectful way.
Kathryn places importance on taking the first step to seek support and offers a warm, welcoming environment for those who choose to work with her.
