Jill Rountree is a licensed clinical social worker in Michigan with more than a decade of experience providing therapy across diverse care settings. She has worked in correctional facilities, outpatient programs, and integrated health care environments, supporting people coping with anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, substance use, and trauma.
Raised in Southeastern Michigan, Jill has lived in Northern Michigan for eight years and currently practices from the Traverse City area. She balances professional life with a growing household that includes children and multiple animals, and she is a parent to twin boys.
Jill holds an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and earned her master of social work from Wayne State University in Detroit. She follows a client-centered approach and draws on evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and EMDR. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps examine the links among thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while dialectical behavior therapy emphasizes mindfulness skills and distress tolerance. EMDR is used to process past traumas, with safe-place techniques taught before moving into processing.
Outside of clinical work, Jill is a registered yoga instructor and enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors with the family animals.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can make a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is convenience - individuals can connect with a therapist in the format that best suits their needs, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to build consistent care into a busy life.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and clients are free to switch therapists if they decide a different fit would be better. For many people, the combination of evidence-based methods and adaptable access makes online therapy a practical option for addressing everyday mental health concerns.
