Jessica Sullivan is a thoughtful and pragmatic therapist and supervisor with 20 years of experience who aims to mobilise the resilient and courageous parts of a person to support changes that can begin to improve life. She offers confidential support delivered with care and compassion as people learn about themselves and test new ways of approaching difficulties.
Originally trained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, she works with two complementary approaches. She provides open-ended psychodynamic therapy to explore issues that stem from childhood, and when briefer work is appropriate she adopts a forward-looking, solution-focused approach to help people move on from current concerns.
Her experience as a workplace counsellor gives her a practical understanding of how personal problems and work life interact, and she can also support those affected by traumatic incidents in the workplace. She has a particular interest in the emotional aspects of diabetes – including supporting people who wish to reverse it through exercise and diet – and in assisting cancer patients during and after treatment.
As part of an initial assessment she may use measures such as GAD7, PHQ9, HADS and/or IES-R to evaluate needs. Her clinical experience covers self harm, suicidal ideation and risk, depression, anxiety, work stress, workplace grievance and bullying, relationship issues, early attachment concerns, eating disorders, workplace trauma, bereavement, sexual abuse, ethnicity and cultural sensitivity, working appropriately with clients in the court process, and patient recall support. She also has an understanding of enduring mental health issues, medication, substance misuse and addiction.
She looks forward to meeting with you.
