Jessica Douglas

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I view psychotherapy as a psychological way of treating presenting features or challenges. I want to create a space where you can tell your story, in your own words, to explore and process what is happening for you. I’m an assimilative, integrative therapist – I’m human first everything else second. This means that as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I use Transactional Analysis as my core model of therapy and take bits and pieces from other models to fit your needs and tailor your treatment plan and contract.

The therapeutic relationship at it’s core is two individuals having a conversation and relating to one another through the lens of their lived experience. I might not have walked the same path as you, but I’ll listen to and reflect your experience of your journey with intrigue, curiosity and space for reflection.

My core hours are usually 10am – 7pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Evening and weekend appointments are available on request.

How long does therapy take? How long is a piece of string? It depends, in all honesty, what the therapeutic contract is, and what you would like to work towards. We can cover this during treatment planning and initial meeting.

I’m comfortable using a single session approach (Windy Dryden also calls this ‘therapy plus’!) which is one therapy session with the option for more if needed, or planning short (6 – 8 week) or longer term psychotherapy (20+) sessions as required.

If we’re not a good match, that’s not a problem – you can always switch things up and be matched with another therapist. We’re not going to like everyone we meet, and not all therapists are suitable for all people. As much as I would love to be able to help everyone I meet, I accept that we all have different needs, styles and preferred personalities. That’s the beauty and richness of diverse human experience.

Important Update – Ethical Considerations for Providing Therapy when Unwell

As part of the BACP Ethical Framework, I am required to ensure that my wellbeing is sufficient to sustain the quality of my therapeutic work.

Whilst I endeavour to maintain good health and wellbeing, periods of sickness and ill-health may occur. During these times, I will inform clients and allow them to make a choice whether they wish to reschedule or postpone sessions until I have sufficiently recovered.

About

Jessica Douglas approaches psychotherapy as a psychological method for addressing the issues a person brings to therapy. She aims to create a space where people can tell their story in their own words, and together explore and process what is happening for them.

She works as an assimilative, integrative practitioner who describes herself as human first and therapist second. Transactional Analysis is the core model she uses, and she draws on elements from other approaches to tailor a treatment plan and therapeutic contract to individual needs.

For Jessica the therapeutic relationship is essentially two people having a conversation and relating through the lens of their lived experience. She may not have walked the same path as each client, but she listens and reflects on a person’s journey with curiosity, intrigue and space for reflection.

She offers a range of formats – a single session approach with the option to continue, short courses of six to eight weeks, or longer term psychotherapy of 20+ sessions when required. How long therapy takes is determined during treatment planning and the initial meeting, according to the therapeutic contract and the goals the client wishes to work towards.

Her core hours are usually 10am to 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and evening and weekend appointments are available on request. If a therapeutic match does not feel right, clients are able to switch to another therapist.

Important update – in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, Jessica is required to ensure her wellbeing supports the quality of her therapeutic work. If she experiences periods of sickness or ill-health she will inform clients and offer them the choice to reschedule or postpone sessions until she has sufficiently recovered. She is based in the United Kingdom.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can have a meaningful impact. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. A key advantage is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that feels most comfortable, whether by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. This adaptability helps make therapy easier to fit into everyday life. Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and if the fit does not feel right it is possible to switch to a different therapist. For many people, the combination of clinical expertise and flexible access makes online therapy a practical option for getting support.
