Dr. Jerome Anderson is an advanced-practice clinical professional with 24 years of experience delivering psychotherapy, counseling, and clinical consultation. He focuses on both severe and persistent mental health conditions as well as common concerns, offering support for stress, anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, career difficulties, trauma and abuse, grief, mood disorders, ADHD, sleep problems, and related challenges.
He holds advanced certifications in clinical social work and forensic practice and has additional certification in correctional health care; these credentials reflect advanced training for clinical practice, forensic evaluation, and work in correctional settings. His approach draws on scientific, evidence-based methods, using cognitive-behavioral principles alongside strengths-based theory to guide symptom management, behavioral redirection, lifestyle adjustments, and crisis abatement.
Dr. Anderson has worked as a clinical psychotherapist, Behavioral Health Consultant, and Flight Commander of Behavioral Health Services for the United States Department of the Air Force. He also directed mental health services in large metropolitan jails and correctional facilities, served as a forensic clinician in maximum-security prisons, and has experience as a full-time law enforcement officer. Across these roles he has evaluated and diagnosed patients, set appropriate treatment goals, and developed recommendations for judicial and competency-related processes.
In addition to his civilian roles, he serves as an Active Duty Commissioned Officer at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, where he functions as a subject matter expert and coordinator for employee relations and officer advocacy. He is licensed to provide social work services in Missouri and Illinois and is located in Maryland.
Dr. Anderson offers professional counseling, psychotherapy, and consulting services tailored to individual needs, and welcomes the opportunity to work with clients seeking evidence-informed care and practical strategies for change.
