Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi! My name is Jenna and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor [LPCC] in the state of Ohio with 5 years of professional working experience (6 if inclusive to clinical internship). I have had successful involvement in assisting people to overcome and cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders; relationship needs, communication skills, and family or group conflict and challenges; general life and career exploration and adjustments; and in addressing the day-to-day “stuff” that can sometimes impact us from being our best, most esteemed and comfortable selves.
The majority of my experience has been with youth, young adults, and couples or families from high-risk populations, whether it be those struggling with or impacted by substance use, legal involvement, family disruption and separation, multiple traumas, and otherwise. I tend to utilize an eclectic approach predominantly rooted in DBT, ACT, and CBT therapies while also strongly holding space to validate and process through the life experiences that made an undoubtable impact on you along the way. I truly believe that you are the expert of your own being– no one will know you or know how to heal you better than you– but I would be honored to walk next to you in support along the way.
I frequently incorporate radical acceptance, authenticity and identity development; genuine connection; autonomy; and education into my practice. I believe that the first key to change is awareness… we have to know what it is in order to change it, and we have to ~grow~ through what we ~go~ through. I tend to take a more casual, conversational approach: offering a blend of professionally trained and skilled clinical mental health therapy with empathy, humor, and some degree of ‘nerding out’ to improve your insight, understanding, and empowerment to experience life as you.

Jenna Van Houten is a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in Ohio with 5 years of professional working experience (6 if inclusive to clinical internship). She brings focused clinical skills to work with stress, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, along with relationship concerns, communication challenges, and family or group conflicts.
Jenna assists with general life and career exploration and adjustments and helps people address the everyday issues that can interfere with feeling confident and comfortable in their lives. Much of her work has involved youth, young adults, and couples or families from high-risk populations, including those affected by substance use, legal involvement, family disruption and separation, and multiple traumas.
Her therapeutic approach is eclectic and predominantly rooted in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She places strong emphasis on validating and processing the life experiences that have shaped each person, recognizing that clients are the experts in their own stories and that a therapist’s role is to walk alongside them in support.
Jenna frequently weaves principles of radical acceptance, authenticity and identity development, genuine connection, autonomy, and psychoeducation into sessions. She believes awareness is the first step toward change – you have to know what it is in order to change it – and that people often need to grow through what they go through. Jenna tends to take a casual, conversational stance, blending professionally trained clinical intervention with empathy, humor, and a bit of ‘nerding out’ to strengthen insight, understanding, and empowerment.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions. It can be an appropriate option for people seeking support for these issues.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that fits their needs and comfort level, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy schedule.
All sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be helpful. For many people, online therapy provides a practical, evidence-informed pathway to get help and maintain continuity of care.
