Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and Welcome, thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Emma and I am a fully qualified counsellor, specialising in anxiety and depression. I have a Bsc in Psychology and a Fdsc in Counselling. What does that mean? I have spent ten plus years studying the mind and how that can impact on our behaviour.
Nothing has tested our mental health more than the last two years (mine included!) from isolation, and being deprived social interaction. Maybe now you feel anxious socialising, whereas pre covid, you never experienced such anxiety. Whether you have just began to not feeling like “you” or have felt like this for some time, I am here to help.
I offer safe and non judgemental counselling to help you start feeling like you again. I work in a way that works best for you, promoting autonomy every step of the way.
Investing in your mental health is the best investment you can ever make.
Talk soon,
Emma

Emma McGowan is a fully qualified counsellor who specialises in anxiety and depression. She holds a BSc in Psychology and an FDSc in Counselling, academic qualifications that reflect formal study in psychology and professional training in counselling.
She has spent more than ten years studying the mind and how it can influence behaviour. Emma recognises that the past two years have placed exceptional strain on many people’s mental health – including her own – and that experiences such as isolation can lead to new or increased social anxiety for people who previously did not experience it.
Whether someone has recently begun to feel unlike themselves or has been struggling for some time, Emma offers compassionate, non-judgemental counselling aimed at helping them feel more like themselves again. She works collaboratively and adapts her approach to suit each person’s needs, promoting autonomy at every step.
Emma believes that investing in mental health is one of the most important investments a person can make, and she is available to support people as they take those steps toward feeling better.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can really help. For a wide range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to engage in support from different locations.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they feel a different fit would be better. Online therapy can be a practical, evidence-supported way to access help for many everyday mental health concerns.
