Working through life’s challenges together…

I truly believe that building a strong, authentic and trusting relationship between therapist and client is the foundation for success in therapy. As a warm and welcoming therapist, I pride myself on offering a personalised and tailored approach to therapy that puts your needs first. I’m here to support you and help you comfortably achieve your goals.

I believe that our early attachments play a significant role, and our learned patterns of relating to ourselves and others play out unconsciously. These become our blueprint and are deeply conditioned within our neuropathways. Some behaviours/thoughts and emotional responses are helpful, whilst others are not.

Therapy can be a useful learning tool to better understand who you are and how you cope. By gaining a deeper understanding of yourself (learning from the past and not living in it), you can strengthen your relationship with yourself – I believe to be the most important relationship we ever have.

I am a BACP accredited relational integrative psychotherapist, well-being practitioner and supervisor with a BA, Hons, and Science degree in counselling. I previously worked in various healthcare and educational settings, including A&E, surgery, mental health, community health visitors, learning support, end-of-life, social care, rehab, schools and nurseries. (I hold a level 7 qualification in nursing/healthcare).

My approach in therapy is relational, and looks at unconscious drivers that play out in adult relationships (with self and others). Through understanding our body and mind, we learn to understand other forms of communication to live a more forfilling life. My believe is that our body and mind are interlinked, and by working holistically I can enter your world and support you to be more self aware, leading to personal growth and emotional healing.

My modality is the Clarkson 5 relationship model, which underpins the way I work. As a BACP accredited registered Psychotherapist and Supervisor based in the UK, I adhere to the guidelines and ethics set by the BACP.

Before working as a therapist, I gained experience working within various services, such as mental health services, hospitals, rehabilitation, community health visiting services, learning support, and end-of-life and early years settings. This experience allows me to work holistically, as I believe all aspects of our overall health interlink.

In addition to working with BetterHelp, I work in partnership with Relational Counselling Tadworth, providing Psychotherapy for couples and individuals, and Counselling Supervision for Students and Qualified Counsellors/Psychotherapists. Relational Counselling is well-established and built upon recommendations.

I previously worked for many years at a domestic violence charity, with a counselling charity for young people and a specialised Bereavement Counselling charity. Within these charities, I worked as a psychotherapist, supervisor and group facilitator.

The psychotherapy/counselling I offer is always tailored to meet your individual needs. I incorporate theoretical approaches, techniques & tools from various schools & traditions, including psychodynamic, existential, humanistic & transpersonal.

I will support you in accessing your inner wisdom, and finding a way forward so that life feels balanced and manageable. I will not give advice, try to fix you or tell you what to do; You are your own expert.

I see Counselling as a process rather than a quick fix. I am a very warm and welcoming individual and will take time to build a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship with you, to enable you to speak openly and freely without any judgement. I can provide alternative ways of thinking and viewing your situation. I will challenge your thoughts, use techniques or tools for accessing your unconscious mind and provide space for emotional healing..and much more. This might mean working short-term or long-term, depending on your needs from the space.

Experienced areas include:

Anger, Anxiety, Bereavement, Childhood abuse, Depression, Domestic Abuse, Relationship issues, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Sudden & traumatic death, & Work-related stress.

Continued professional development (CPD)

I am a dedicated professional, continuing to advance my professional knowledge by attending various workshops, seminars, and reading various literature on therapeutic techniques, current neuroscience findings & mental health research.

About

Telephone therapy only. Elizabeth Cooper offers a relational, integrative approach to psychotherapy and counselling, supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges with warmth and a personalised focus.

She believes that early attachments and the patterns we learn for relating to ourselves and others shape much of our behaviour and emotional responses. By exploring those unconscious drivers and the connections between body and mind, she helps clients increase self-awareness, strengthen their relationship with themselves, and move toward emotional healing and personal growth.

Elizabeth is a BACP accredited relational integrative psychotherapist, well-being practitioner and supervisor. She holds a BA (Hons) and a Science degree in counselling, and a level 7 qualification in nursing/healthcare. Her work is underpinned by the Clarkson 5 relationship model and informed by psychodynamic, existential, humanistic and transpersonal approaches.

Her clinical background spans many healthcare and educational settings, including accident and emergency, surgery, mental health services, community health visiting, learning support, end-of-life care, social care, rehabilitation, schools and nurseries. She has also worked for many years at a domestic violence charity, a counselling charity for young people and a specialised bereavement counselling charity where she served as psychotherapist, supervisor and group facilitator.

In addition to private practice, Elizabeth works in partnership with Relational Counselling Tadworth and has provided psychotherapy for couples and individuals as well as counselling supervision for students and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. She also has experience working with a wide range of concerns including relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, grief, self-esteem, depression, stress and anxiety, LGBT issues, family and intimacy-related problems, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting, anger, career challenges, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes and compassion fatigue.

Therapy with Elizabeth is offered as a process rather than a quick fix. She aims to create a safe, non-judgemental environment, will not give prescriptive advice or “fix” someone, and works collaboratively so that the client’s own expertise and inner wisdom guide the way forward.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Research and practice indicate that for many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or managing life transitions – online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person work. It offers a practical alternative for people seeking support without changing their routine.

One of the main benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that suits them best, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life. These options also help people maintain continuity of care when meeting in person is difficult.

Licensed professionals provide online therapy and generally follow the same standards of practice as in-person clinicians. If someone feels they need a different therapeutic match, it is usually possible to switch therapists to find a better fit.

Overall, online therapy provides a convenient and effective pathway to work on common mental health and relationship concerns, while offering multiple ways to connect with a qualified therapist.
