Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I have been a counselor for over twenty years.
I have taught as an adjunct instructor at the Graduate, Under-graduate, and Post Graduate levels. I love my job!
I am honored and thankful that my clients share their lives with me for a season. I have no magic wands to “fix” lives. I do, however have a wide variety of “tools” that I will teach you how to use in order to begin, or continue, your individual journey of growth and healing. Change, healing and growth do happen! I am privileged to have a front row seat to watch it every day!
I will treat you with respect, NO judgment, and honesty. I fully realize that you are the experts of your own lives.
If you are interested in the clinical specifics,
I use a wide variety of trauma informed modalities. Some are CBT, Schema Therapy, IFS, EFT, DBT, Solution focus therapy.

With 21 years of clinical experience, Deborah Schnitzer brings longstanding commitment and practical skills to her counseling work in New York. She has also served as an adjunct instructor at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, combining teaching with direct clinical practice.
Deborah is honored that clients choose to share seasons of their lives with her. She does not promise quick fixes; instead she offers a broad set of clinical tools and teaches clients how to use them to begin or continue a journey of healing, change, and personal growth. She witnesses those changes regularly and regards that progress as a privilege to witness.
Her approach is trauma-informed and draws on a range of evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), schema therapy, internal family systems (IFS), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy. She treats people with respect, without judgment, and with honesty, recognizing that each person is the expert on their own life.
Deborah is a licensed clinical social worker in New York and maintains a warm, professional stance while helping individuals address relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, parenting concerns, life transitions, stress and anxiety, grief, intimacy and anger issues, self-esteem and career difficulties, as well as mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. She also offers coaching and support for compassion fatigue.
People often wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One key advantage is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that suits them best, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Licensed professionals provide online services, and clients may choose to switch therapists at any time if they prefer a different fit.
