Claire Cotgrove offers a welcoming, affirming space for people from the LGBTQIA+ community to explore questions around sexuality, gender or neurodivergence. She also supports those who have experienced trauma, coercive or abusive relationships, or who struggle with shame and guilt, helping them work towards feeling empowered, accepted and more at peace.
Claire recognizes that seeking counselling can feel like a big and sometimes daunting step. Whether clients are dealing with ongoing difficulties or navigating an unsettled period, she provides a safe environment to talk and to explore personal experiences. She is a qualified person-centred counsellor, and her wealth of life experience informs a compassionate, empathic approach to therapy.
Believing that warmth, non-judgemental acceptance and respect are key to healing, Claire uses person-centred principles that place the client at the heart of the therapeutic work, with the counsellor alongside them. She offers a supportive space and includes options such as creative therapy to help clients explore issues in different ways and support personal growth.
Sessions are focused on what each client brings to the work, so people are seen and heard within a professional therapeutic relationship. Claire’s practice is suited to many concerns, including LGBTQ+ matters, neurodivergence, domestic abuse, trauma (including religious trauma and abuse), relationship difficulties, loss and grief, life transitions, sexuality and gender questions, childhood issues and self-esteem, among other challenges.
