Dr. Alicyn Hennis recognizes that taking the first step toward therapy can be one of the hardest decisions a person makes. She approaches that step with patience and a focus on building a trusting, collaborative relationship.
She has provided counseling since 2002 and brings 24 years of experience to her work. Dr. Hennis believes that people already possess many of the skills they need to grow, and she supports clients in identifying and strengthening those resources to become who they want to be.
Her clinical work includes children as young as three years old as well as adults. A substantial portion of her experience involves helping children who have experienced trauma and supporting their caregivers through the healing process.
In session she emphasizes an authentic, supportive connection and uses a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each person’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness practices, and solution-focused techniques, along with other modalities.
Dr. Hennis is a licensed professional counselor in both Texas and New Jersey and is based in Texas. She looks forward to working with clients who are ready to explore change and build on their strengths.
Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that best fits their needs and comfort level, whether that is a video call, a phone appointment, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals provide care through these channels, and if a different therapeutic fit is desired, clients are able to switch therapists at any time.
