Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi, my name is Aaren and I am a qualified Person Centred Therapist accredited by the National Counselling Psychotherapy Society. That basically means that I am trained to work by building a professional relationship with each of my clients based on trust, compassion, empathy, genuineness and acceptance (plus, a good laugh when appropriate)
My aim is to create sessions where you feel able to be your genuine and authentic self in a judgement free zone knowing that your emotions and opinions are accepted. I’m a strong believer of working collaboratively with you. After all, you are the expert of your life and I am here to simply help you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences talking with you about the choices available.
I promise not to sit and ask you “how does that make you feel” after everything you mention as I believe that each individual is precisely that… an individual! With different needs/wants when accessing therapy. There is a common stereotype around counselling where we’re pictured to sit and nod, make notes, and give open ended statements. My approach is the opposite of that. I can accept when a situation isn’t great, because after all,if it was, you wouldn’t be seeking counselling.
So, if you ever feel like you’re simply watching your life pass you by, if you’re struggling to manage or understand your emotions, if things are difficult for you or even if you just need someone to talk to about day to day life, know that there is no right or wrong reason for accessing therapy. I understand that this step in your life is a very personal decision so if you feel ready to reach out, know that I am there to guide you through the process, the emphasis will always be on you remaining in the driver’s seat and feeling empowered.

Aaren Smith is a qualified Person Centred Therapist accredited by the National Counselling Psychotherapy Society, trained to build a professional relationship with each client that rests on trust, compassion, empathy, genuineness and acceptance – and a well-timed laugh when appropriate.
He aims to create sessions where people can be their genuine, authentic selves in a judgement-free space, confident that their emotions and opinions will be accepted. Aaren works collaboratively, treating the client as the expert of their own life while helping to make sense of thoughts, feelings and experiences and to consider the choices available.
He avoids a one-size-fits-all approach and will not ask “how does that make you feel” after every comment, because each person has distinct needs when accessing therapy. Rather than sitting and merely nodding or offering only open-ended statements, Aaren engages in a way that recognises when a situation is difficult – after all, if it were not, a person would not be seeking counselling.
If someone feels as though life is passing them by, is struggling to understand or manage emotions, is finding things difficult, or simply needs someone to talk to about day-to-day life, Aaren emphasises that there is no right or wrong reason to seek therapy. He understands this is a personal step and, when someone is ready to reach out, he will guide them through the process while keeping the emphasis on the client remaining in the driver’s seat and feeling empowered.
Many people want to know whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – you can connect in the way that suits you best, whether that is via video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to keep continuity of care.
Therapists who offer online work are licensed professionals, and if you feel the fit is not right you can switch to a different therapist. Online formats can provide the same therapeutic focus and collaborative support as face-to-face work while giving more options for how and when you meet.
