Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My education includes my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Campbell University in North Carolina. I completed my graduate studies in Social Work at University of North Carolina in Wilmington.
I have practiced behavioral therapy for eight years following my 2012 graduation from University of North Carolina in Wilmington. The populations I have served during that time have varied greatly. I have worked with children under 10 whose behaviors disrupted the success they could accomplish at home, school, and other environments that they were in. I also helped children ages 12-19 who were needing behavioral health services to identify their needs and how they could go about having their needs met that also allowed them to meet the societal needs placed on them. Societal needs being: appropriate school performance, eliminating or reducing involvement in the juvenile justice system, and improving interactions with those within the child’s home. For years, I worked with adults with dual diagnoses of mental health and developmental disability. I am currently working with the military population where I do individual and couples therapy.
My treatment approaches include learning what brings my clients joy, what they enjoy doing, who is important to them, and goals they have. I then dig deep into these elements to identify value system, core values, and how clients view themselves. From there, I ask in what way can I assist them to get to the destination they want to get to. The destination can be a mental, emotional, or physical. Also, the destination can be interpersonal. The therapeutic models that I use to aid me in helping my clients are: narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have experience with clients that have symptoms of anxiety, trauma, depression, PTSD, low self-esteem, poor self image, self-critical, impulsivity related to anger, difficulty adjusting, grief, and loss.

Candace Coston holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Campbell University and completed graduate studies in social work at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. She is a licensed clinical social worker in both North Carolina and Oregon and has four years of professional experience providing therapy.
Her clinical background spans a range of populations and settings. She has worked with young children whose behaviors interfered with success at home and school, supported adolescents aged 12 to 19 in identifying and meeting their behavioral health needs while navigating educational and justice-system expectations, and provided care for adults with co-occurring mental health and developmental disabilities. She currently works with the military population, offering individual and couples therapy.
Candace’s approach begins by exploring what brings clients joy, the activities they value, the people who matter to them, and the goals they want to reach. From those starting points she examines values, core beliefs, and self-view, then collaborates with clients to map steps toward the destinations they want to reach – whether those goals are emotional, mental, physical, or interpersonal.
She draws on evidence-informed methods to support change, including narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Candace has experience addressing symptoms related to anxiety, trauma, depression, post-traumatic stress, low self-esteem and poor self-image, self-critical thinking, impulsivity linked to anger, adjustment difficulties, grief, and loss.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
A major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect with therapists in the way that fits them best, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
Each therapist is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they prefer a different fit.
