About

Andrew Thomas is an integrative counsellor based in the United Kingdom. He holds a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling (Fda Counselling) and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), following the BACP code of ethics for professional practice.

He has been practising counselling since 2018 and has five years of experience supporting adults aged 18 and over. He offers both short-term and long-term counselling and works in a trauma-informed way.

Andrew specialises in stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, grief, family issues, intimacy-related concerns, anger, low self-esteem, career matters, bipolar disorder, depression, coping with life changes, coaching, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.

His approach is integrative – drawing on a range of therapeutic models to tailor support to each person’s needs and goals. He applies psychodynamic ideas such as attachment theory and inner child work; humanistic methods including person-centred practice, transactional analysis and gestalt; cognitive behavioural techniques like CBT and reality therapy; and concepts from interpersonal neurobiology such as the window of tolerance and polyvagal theory.

Andrew has a particular clinical interest in trauma and has completed extensive continuing professional development to deliver trauma-informed interventions. Interventions he integrates include elements of interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, window of tolerance work, somatic-based approaches and parts work.

In sessions he combines exploration of presenting difficulties with psychoeducation about how the brain and nervous system respond when dysregulated, alongside practical coping strategies designed to restore a greater sense of balance, safety and regulation.

He does not provide couples relationship counselling, and he is not able to supply court reports, in-depth reports, or formal diagnoses. He aims to be flexible about appointment times within his working hours of Monday to Friday and generally checks messages daily during those days, responding within 24 hours. Messages received over the weekend are answered on Monday morning.

Prospective clients are invited to send a message with any questions or to check his calendar and book an appointment. He looks forward to hearing from you.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

A major benefit is flexibility – people can connect in the way that feels most comfortable, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapeutic support around work, family and daily commitments.

Therapists offering online support are licensed professionals, and clients may choose to change therapist if they feel a different fit would be better. For many, online therapy provides a practical and accessible route to addressing everyday mental health and life challenges.
