Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello! My name is Josh and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with roughly 11 years of experience in the field, 6 of which have been in direct, community-based clinical practice. In that time, I have worked in adolescent and adult community mental health/crisis intervention including experience in residential treatment, school-based counseling, family counseling, LGBT+ issues, personality disorders, parenting problems, severe/persistent mental illness, anxiety, relationship problems, depression, family conflict, and trauma. All that said, my aim is simply helping others reach their goals of managing everyday life a little easier.
I like to believe that therapy is firstly based in a trusting relationship and enhanced by my clinical knowledge, not necessarily in disorders/clinical jargon; however, my approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, solution-focused, strengths-based, and psychodynamic therapy and I am comfortable utilizing any/all of these to tailor treatment to your individual needs!
I applaud you for taking the first, often difficult, step towards meeting your goals and I look forward to working with you!

Joshua Heying is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in North Carolina with eight years of experience in the field. He assists people managing a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship and family conflicts, addiction, trauma and abuse, grief, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting and career challenges, ADHD, and issues related to sexual and gender identity.
He frames therapy around a trusting therapeutic relationship and applies clinical knowledge in ways that are practical and easy to use rather than focused on jargon. His work draws from cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral strategies, solution-focused and strengths-based perspectives, and psychodynamic ideas, allowing him to adapt methods to each person’s needs.
Joshua aims to help people meet their goals and make everyday life a little easier. He welcomes the opportunity to support someone who has taken the important step of seeking help and is ready to collaborate on change.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person treatment for most people.
One of the primary benefits of remote therapy is flexibility. People can choose the mode of connection that suits them best – video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit help into a busy schedule.
Therapy delivered remotely is provided by licensed professionals, and if a different match is desired it is typically possible to switch therapists. For many individuals, online therapy offers an accessible and practical way to address everyday mental health concerns while working toward personal goals.
