Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello!
My name is Wendi D. Nixon, Ph. D., NCC, LCMHC, and I am a National Certified Counselor #54448 and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor #4201 with the state of North Carolina. I received my Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling in 1989 from Regent University and have worked for over 27 years to help individuals, families, adolescents and children recover from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, abuse, and neglect.
More recently, I graduated from Regent University with my doctorate in Counseling and Psychological Studies with a concentration in Trauma and Crisis Counseling in May 2023. I received additional training to be a rostered provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 2008 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received certification as a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) in 2013 from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International, and since then have been helping children and adults recover from trauma and other mental health issues with my therapy horses at my in-person practice.
I believe a client-centered approach is the most effective as you are the expert in how you think and feel. Finding the root of negative thoughts and feelings can be key to rising above places you may feel stuck or want to change. I am passionate about helping others find peace and healing through unconditional support on the journey to recovery. I have also focused on working with family issues such as parenting support, blended family issues, and adoptive family issues. I provide services that are psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral in approach, and (as needed) from a family systems approach, individualized to each persons’ needs. I look forward to helping you on your journey to wholeness.

Many people wonder whether remote therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that best fits their lifestyle, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to schedule and maintain consistent care.
Therapy provided online is delivered by licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists if they seek a different fit. For many individuals facing everyday mental health challenges, online therapy offers an accessible, practical option to pursue support and growth.
