Wendy Joseph is a UK-based therapist with 16 years of clinical experience and long-standing professional registrations. She has been a member of the BACP (UK) for 15 years and holds accreditation as an Advanced Integrated Clinical Supervisor.
Her clinical background includes 20 years as a UK Registered Mental Health Nurse and academic qualifications that include an MSc (Distinction) in Public Health with a thesis on the psychology of behaviour change and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with a thesis on workplace role identity, culture and leadership. She has had four papers published in areas including autism, domestic violence and dementia risk prediction and is awaiting PhD candidacy.
Wendy is trained in Gestalt therapy, a psychodynamic and humanistic approach that emphasises self-awareness, insight and the integration of mind, body and environment. She also identifies as a trauma-informed and neurodivergence-informed practitioner and holds autism and AD(H)D informed therapy accreditation.
Her practice balances a relaxed, flexible style with client-led work and offers structured programmes when useful - for example attachment styles, executive functioning, emotional regulation, addiction including porn and masturbation addiction, ADHD coaching, self-compassion, anxiety management, positive psychology, emotional intelligence, relationship repair and preparation for separation or divorce. She provides access to validated self-report mental health and wellbeing assessments via an external psychology company that protects client identity, and she recommends evidence-based web resources to support personal growth.
Her clinical skills draw on the polyvagal model of stress, somatic experiencing, trauma and disorganised attachment body approaches, positive psychology tools, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, the FLASH technique for processing traumatic memories with reduced distress, and training with the Gottman Institute.
Wendy’s wider practice experience includes carer wellbeing, severe and enduring mental health conditions, dementia, autism and AD(H)D, intimate partner violence and workplace bullying. She has developed and facilitated group programmes for stress management, sleep management, coping with hearing voices, depression and wider wellbeing, and has engaged in dementia and domestic violence research.
She undertakes approximately 200 hours of continuing professional development each year and lists recent CPD topics across 2023, 2024 and 2025 covering positive psychology, trauma, anxiety management including CBT and exposure, polyvagal theory, anti-oppressive practice, grief and bereavement, differential diagnosis in trauma, working therapeutically with autistic clients, ADHD across the lifespan and somatic attachment therapy among others.
Wendy Joseph offers a professional, compassionate and experienced approach to therapy.
