Valerie Bryan has worked in the mental health field for 37 years, bringing deep clinical experience and a compassionate, human-centered approach to therapy. She applies her training as a registered art therapist to engage creativity - both her own and her clients' - as a tool for problem solving and for gaining fresh perspectives on life challenges.
Her work addresses a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, feelings of being unloved or unappreciated, anger, resentment, guilt, sorrow, and difficulties with coping that stem from unacknowledged trauma. Valerie aims for clients to experience hope and optimism as early as the first session, and she relies on warmth, humor, and compassion as key elements in promoting healing, resilience, and personal growth.
Valerie’s approach is informed by Jungian theory and by aspects of Native American spirituality, both of which emphasize balance, respect for differences, and gratitude while also encouraging honest exploration of the darker parts of the self. She may sometimes invite clients to have markers and paper available to symbolize relationships, map situations, or express feelings - no artistic skill is required to benefit from this method. Valerie is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in Texas (license number 9269) and looks forward to supporting clients who wish to love themselves and others more, release pain, rediscover laughter and gratitude, and heal old wounds when they are ready to do so.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life transitions, remote therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most individuals.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that fits their schedule and comfort level - by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to keep therapy consistent amid busy lives.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and if a client feels a different match would be better they are free to switch providers at any time. Online therapy offers a convenient pathway to support for many common mental health needs while allowing clients to choose the communication style that works best for them.
