My name is Tara and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I have over 16 years experience working in the mental health field. As a current School Counselor, I am passionate about providing support and encouragement to students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community. I have the most experience working with trauma, crisis, grief, anxiety, anger management, self care, ADHD, dyslexia, autism, self regulation, and improvement in school success. I am a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist and have a variety of training such as Skills For Psychological Recovery, Motivational Interviewing, Bullying, Suicide Prevention, Mental Health First Aide, Trauma, Grief, Anxiety, Resilience, and more.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to fit your unique needs, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, narrative, and solution focused therapy. I would describe my style as warm, supportive, and encouraging. I am passionate about getting to know you and helping you navigate all the strong emotions you are experiencing. I often say that there are no bad feelings. Feelings are just visitors and we must learn to acknowledge them and let them come and go.
