Rebekkah Pennington

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello!
My name is Rebekkah Pennington, I am a seasoned mental health professional and counselor. I have worked in the field of addictions and mental health since 1993. Before this I have years of personal experience dating back to the 70’s and 80′ I actually had the privilege and honor of studying under some of the original recovery movement gurus before recovery and rehabs were a thing. John Bradshaw, Claudia Black and Pia Melody have been some of my early hero’s in the field.
So after my recovery began to take place for real 🙂 in 1991 Jan 14th to be exact, God as I understand Him put a strong desire in my heart to become educated more on a professional level so that I could help others find their way back. Since that time I have achieved four college degrees in Addictions, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Professional Counseling. Years and years of training and experience working with Men, Women and Adolescents in many varied settings. Hospitals, Residential, Intensive Outpatient, Supportive Outpatient, and Aftercare to name a few, also Jails and Prisons I have worked in Therapeutic Community settings which were some of my favorite and most passionate days. Recovery is real and it is totally possible if you are willing to put yourself all in, you get out what you put in basically and I am willing to go all in with you to help you save your own life. Literally. Or some definite improvements. Quality of life is essential and a basic peace and happiness will be obtained by working through issues and finding your authentic selves.
One of my strengths is geared towards establishing authentic relationships with those I works with, using a person-centered technique. You do and will always know yourselves, your strengths, your weaknesses, much better than I or anyone else ever could. My main mode of counseling is solution-focused, preferring an integrative approach to therapy as the ways and means to provide a foundation for building relationships with clients.
I specialilize in addictions.

About

Rebekkah Pennington is a seasoned mental health professional and counselor based in Texas with 30 years of clinical experience. She has worked in the addictions and mental health field since 1993 and brings decades of personal experience dating back to the 1970s and 1980s, including early study with recovery pioneers John Bradshaw, Claudia Black, and Pia Melody.

Her own recovery began on January 14, 1991, an experience that inspired her to pursue professional training so she could support others on similar paths. She has completed college-level study in Addictions, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Professional Counseling, and has pursued years of additional training across multiple treatment settings.

Pennington has provided services in hospitals, residential programs, intensive outpatient and supportive outpatient settings, aftercare programs, jails, and prisons. She has worked extensively in therapeutic community environments and has longstanding experience with adolescents, high-risk youth, and adult populations involved in the criminal justice system in Texas.

Her areas of specialization include addictions treatment and intervention, trauma recovery, relapse prevention, codependency work, and a broad range of mental health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. Over the course of her career she has accumulated decades of focused work: 28 years in trauma recovery, 28 years in relapse prevention, 28 years addressing various mental health diagnoses, 35 years of work related to codependency, 15 years working with addicted high-risk adolescents, and 30 years serving in criminal justice institutions.

Pennington’s therapeutic approach centers on building authentic relationships and honoring each person’s self-knowledge. She prefers person-centered and solution-focused methods within an integrative framework, drawing on approaches such as experiential therapy, strength-based work, trauma-focused interventions, mindfulness-based techniques, Christian counseling when appropriate, and 12-step components. Culturally sensitive practice and attention to family and relationship dynamics are consistent elements of her work.

Holding a Texas professional counseling credential (TX LPC 66074), Rebekkah Pennington aims to support clients who are ready to engage in meaningful change and recovery. She invites motivated individuals to partner with her in pursuing improved quality of life and renewed sense of self.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or adapting to life changes, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person care for a wide range of needs.

One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect with their therapist in the format that best fits their life – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it easier to keep regular appointments around work, family, and other commitments.

All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to request a different therapist if they feel another fit would better meet their needs. This combination of proven effectiveness and practical convenience makes online therapy a viable option for many people seeking support.
