Philip Bloomer

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. I offer therapy for people of all ages and all mental health and substance use difficulties, in whatever combination they occur. I have also helped couples and families work out their problems. As a social worker I look at every area of life, believing that where we live, our physical wellness, our relationships, the way we think, our past, the emotions we experience, what gives our lives meaning and purpose and often so many other factors all play a part in making our lives what they are, so the treatment I offer looks at all of these. Everything we talk about is strictly confidential, allowing us to talk about anything and everything. I never judge and you can expect me to be honest and truthful with you. I absolutely believe in the potential for everyone to experience a positive change in their life. I use a number of different therapeutic styles many of which include helping people manage their problems, figure out what is really important to them, work out what they want from life and what they can do to move them towards their hopes and dreams. I am an American citizen but was born and spent the first 30 years of my life in England and I still retain much of my accent. My first career was working for the British government. I returned to school and obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work at the age of 40. As well as academic and theoretical knowledge, I draw on a broad range of life experiences including having had my own personal struggles with both mental health problems and substance use. At present I offer standard office hour appointments, Monday to Friday 8:15 a.m. to 6:00 pm (Eastern Time), although I have accommodated individual scheduling requirements in the past. Our initial visit includes a lot of information gathering to help me better understand what I can do to help you. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your life story and helping you write the next chapter.

About

Philip Bloomer is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker practicing in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. He brings 11 years of clinical experience and offers therapy to people of all ages for mental health and substance use concerns, either alone or in combination. He has also worked with couples and families to resolve relational difficulties.

As a social worker, Philip considers the whole of a person’s life – where they live, physical wellness, relationships, thinking patterns, past experiences, emotions, and what gives life meaning and purpose – and incorporates those areas into treatment. He approaches care without judgment and is direct and honest with clients, maintaining strict confidentiality for what is discussed in sessions.

Philip trained later in life, earning a Master’s degree in Social Work at age 40 after an earlier career with the British government. He was born and raised in England for the first 30 years of his life and retains elements of his accent. He also draws on personal experience, including his own struggles with mental health and substance use, when connecting with and supporting others.

Philip practices during standard office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and has accommodated individual scheduling needs in the past. An initial visit focuses on gathering information so he can better understand how to help. He uses a variety of therapeutic approaches aimed at helping people manage problems, identify priorities, clarify what they want from life, and take practical steps toward their goals.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life transitions – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person care. It can be an effective option for people seeking accessible, regular support.

An important benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging, choosing the format that best fits their needs and schedule. This flexibility often makes it easier to maintain consistent engagement with treatment.

Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and clients may change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, remote therapy offers a practical way to receive skilled support without sacrificing quality of care.
