Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello, and welcome to Better Help!
My name is Octavia Fukino, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) as well as Licensed Clinical Psychologist(LPCC).
I have over 7 years of experience doing counseling, four of them pre- license and four years after licensing. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at UCLA in 1990, and my Masters in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University in 2013. I specialize in treating Trauma as well as relationship issues, and also work with substance abuse clients.
Before COVID-19, my focus was private practice and doing counseling in person. It is important to me to connect with clients and establish trust and warmth.
Due to this pandemic, Telehealth Video has become more normal and I see that the relationship does not necessarily suffer from not being together in and office, and it can be more convenient for clients to not travel as much.
My passion for counseling has always existed, but it was on hold when I raised my two adopted children. They are adults now and I am very proud of them.
I was married for 25 years to their father, but that marriage ended in divorce due to very painful betrayal. After this I went back to school and focused on building a meaningful career. Given my personal experience, I focus on attachment issues, trauma, relationships, and grief/loss. Therapy and counseling were a key part of my own journey to healing, and I wanted to make sure to help others struggling like I did through pain and codependency.
You have reached out and are thinking about getting help. It is wonderful and scary as well. Please know that change is possible. Healing is possible. You are a lot stronger and wiser than you may think. It would be wonderful to work with you and find YOU.

Octavia Fukino is a California-licensed therapist who practices as a marriage and family therapist and as a professional clinical counselor. She brings seven years of clinical experience and works with a wide range of concerns including trauma and abuse, grief, stress and anxiety, addictions, LGBT issues, relationship and family conflicts, intimacy-related and parenting issues, self-esteem, bipolar disorder, depression, and coping with life changes.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from UCLA in 1990 and completed a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University in 2013. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic her focus was private practice and in-person counseling; since then she has embraced telehealth video and has found that a strong therapeutic connection can be maintained even when sessions do not occur in the same office, while also offering greater convenience for clients who prefer to travel less.
Fukino’s passion for counseling was present long before her formal career, though she paused professional work while raising her two adopted children, who are now adults. After a 25-year marriage ended in divorce following a very painful betrayal, she returned to school and focused on building a meaningful clinical practice. Those personal experiences inform her focus on attachment concerns, trauma, relationships, and grief and loss; therapy played a central role in her own healing, and she aims to support others facing pain and patterns of codependency.
Reaching out for help can feel both hopeful and intimidating. Fukino believes that change and healing are possible, and she welcomes the opportunity to work with clients to help them rediscover their strengths and move toward recovery.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to fit counseling into a busy life.
Therapists offering these services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change providers at any time if they want a different fit.
