Nina Powell is a licensed clinical social worker in both Florida and Maine, and she brings more than three decades of clinical experience to her practice. She holds an advanced certification in hospice and palliative care and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, training that informs her work with people facing serious illness and life transitions.
Early in her career she supported survivors of domestic violence and people living with a variety of disabilities, helping them adapt to changing abilities and manage everyday stressors. For the past 29 years her primary focus has been working closely with adults, children, and families affected by cancer, providing counseling while connecting them to appropriate resources throughout treatment.
Her clinical work includes counseling caregivers on coping strategies, guiding parents on how to support their children, addressing concerns about self-image and loss of control, and recognizing and treating compassion fatigue in those who care for others. She has also provided end-of-life support for patients and their families during that sensitive time.
Nina has delivered intensive bereavement counseling to people who have lost loved ones in unanticipated tragedies, helping clients process their loss and move forward in their grief journey. She aims to draw on her years of experience to assist clients as they process emotions and work toward healing, and she welcomes the opportunity to support people through that process.
Many people ask whether meeting with a therapist online can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adapting to life changes, research and clinical practice indicate that remote therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is convenience – clients can choose the mode of connection that fits their life, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to schedule appointments and maintain continuity of care.
These services are delivered by licensed professionals and therapists, and if a different therapeutic fit is needed clients are generally able to switch providers. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible, practical way to address mental health concerns while maintaining a consistent therapeutic relationship.
