Nicola Dove

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello, and welcome my name is Nicola. I am a UK qualified Client Centred Counsellor (MBACP) with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling.
This means I will use a variety of therapeutic approaches to give you a counselling experience which is tailored to you.
What do I do?
I work with adults with a wide range of difficulties and life issues such as bereavement, depression, anxiety and low self-esteem in a confidential and non-judgmental space.
Have you been feeling anxious, worthless, struggling to communicate with someone, had a relationship breakdown, feeling overwhelmed or consumed with grief?
Do you want to feel less anxious in social situations, feel comfortable asking for your needs to be met, sleep better, not be plagued by guilt and shame and work on old patterns and behaviours that no longer serve you?
I recognise that there are times in everybody’s life when things get too much. We cannot seem to see a way through our difficulties. I know it’s not easy to decide to begin counselling, you may even feel you’re being silly or think you should be able to cope on your own or have you tried talking to friends which can leave you feeling unheard, misunderstood maybe even frustrated.
Having an understanding, experienced counsellor can help you start to reclaim your power and live a life that you deserve. Counselling not only allows you to recover from distress and upset that you may have experienced, but you can also learn to thrive. You can live a life that is deeply fulfilling.
 Seeking out counselling is not a weakness it is a sign of strength.
 Investing in yourself is one of the kindest things you can do, you are important.
 Counselling is not just for serious mental health issues
 Counselling doesn’t have to be a long process; We don’t have to talk about your childhood (although it always interests me)
What if visiting a counsellor could help improve the quality of your life and relationships?
The relationship between a client and counsellor is a rare thing. How often do we have someone that is on our side, no judgement, no advice or telling you what to do, no hidden agenda, it’s simply 100% focused on you and your needs! How wonderful does that sound!?
◦ A bit about me and why I do what I do.
◦ I fell in love with the profession after coming to a crossroads in life myself and feeling, to be honest, at my lowest ebb I went to counselling and used the space to its fullest. I came out of that dark space and had an overwhelming desire to help others find what I did. Lots of years later I have now had the joy of witnessing change in others, seeing the power of resilience and change, we humans have within us.

About

Nicola Dove is a UK-qualified client-centred counsellor (MBACP) with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling. She draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches to create a counselling experience tailored to each individual’s needs.

She works with adults facing a wide range of difficulties and life issues, including bereavement, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship and family problems, trauma and abuse, addictions, intimacy-related issues, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting concerns, anger, career challenges, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. Nicola offers a confidential, non-judgmental space for people feeling overwhelmed, anxious, worthless, or consumed by grief.

Nicola understands that beginning counselling can feel daunting – people may worry they should manage on their own or feel unheard after talking to friends. She aims to provide an experienced, understanding presence that helps clients reclaim a sense of agency and work toward recovery and personal growth. She emphasises that seeking counselling is a sign of strength and that investing in oneself is a kind and important choice.

Her practice does not require a lengthy focus on childhood unless a client wishes to explore it, and she recognises that counselling is not only for serious mental health conditions. Nicola values the therapeutic relationship as a focused space without hidden agendas or unsolicited advice, where the client’s needs come first.

Her commitment to this work grew from a personal experience of reaching a crossroads and finding counselling helpful during a difficult time. After coming through that period she trained in counselling and, over the following years, has witnessed resilience and change in the people she supports.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.

A major benefit is flexibility – individuals can connect with a therapist in the way that best fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This versatility makes it easier to include therapy in a busy life.

Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and if someone finds they would prefer a different fit they can switch therapists at any time. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible and practical route to support and progress without changing the core therapeutic relationship or goals.
