Nicola Dove is a UK-qualified client-centred counsellor (MBACP) with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling. She draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches to create a counselling experience tailored to each individual’s needs.
She works with adults facing a wide range of difficulties and life issues, including bereavement, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship and family problems, trauma and abuse, addictions, intimacy-related issues, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting concerns, anger, career challenges, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. Nicola offers a confidential, non-judgmental space for people feeling overwhelmed, anxious, worthless, or consumed by grief.
Nicola understands that beginning counselling can feel daunting - people may worry they should manage on their own or feel unheard after talking to friends. She aims to provide an experienced, understanding presence that helps clients reclaim a sense of agency and work toward recovery and personal growth. She emphasises that seeking counselling is a sign of strength and that investing in oneself is a kind and important choice.
Her practice does not require a lengthy focus on childhood unless a client wishes to explore it, and she recognises that counselling is not only for serious mental health conditions. Nicola values the therapeutic relationship as a focused space without hidden agendas or unsolicited advice, where the client’s needs come first.
Her commitment to this work grew from a personal experience of reaching a crossroads and finding counselling helpful during a difficult time. After coming through that period she trained in counselling and, over the following years, has witnessed resilience and change in the people she supports.
Many people ask whether online therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
A major benefit is flexibility - individuals can connect with a therapist in the way that best fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This versatility makes it easier to include therapy in a busy life.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and if someone finds they would prefer a different fit they can switch therapists at any time. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible and practical route to support and progress without changing the core therapeutic relationship or goals.
