Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi my name is Mike. I’m a registered UK counsellor and previously worked for many years as a professional nurse where counselling skills were central to my care of my patients.
I have experience in helping people with a wide variety of problems including anxiety, depression, stress, social anxiety, relationships, self-confidence, health issues, trauma, abuse and bereavement.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our sessions to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
My approach to counselling is a person-centred one. Person-centred counselling is a humanistic approach which is led by you and puts you at the centre of the process. Given the right conditions in therapy, a person can reach their full potential and become their true self through a process of actualisation which is innate and accessible to everyone.
When you are attending counselling , I encourage you to bring your own issues to the session – the counselling is led by you and not directed by me. You are the best expert on yourself. Many clients, with no previous knowledge of counselling, believe that the counsellor will sort their problems out for them. However, as a person-centred counsellor, I will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.
I am here to help you discover your own abilities and help you to realise what resources and support are available to you that you can use to work through your own issues, build your self-confidence and appreciate that you always have options.
I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you. I will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session. This helps build a trustworthy relationship in which you can feel free and supported to disclose whatever is troubling you. Eventually it will lead you to discover your own abilities and independence so that you can cope with current and future problems.

Michael Clement is a registered UK counsellor who previously worked for many years as a professional nurse, where counselling skills were central to the care he gave patients.
He has experience supporting people with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, social anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-confidence issues, health-related worries, trauma, abuse and bereavement.
His practice is informed by a person-centred approach. This humanistic method is led by the client and places the individual at the centre of the therapeutic process. Given the right conditions in therapy, a person can work towards greater self-awareness and personal actualisation.
During sessions Michael encourages clients to bring the topics that matter most to them – the work is guided by the client rather than directed by the therapist. He helps people explore their feelings, beliefs, behaviour and worldview so they can develop increased insight and greater independence.
He aims to treat every person with respect, sensitivity and compassion, and to provide a non-judgemental space in which clients can disclose what is troubling them. Over time this supportive relationship is intended to help clients recognise their own resources, build self-confidence and find options for coping with current and future difficulties.
His qualifications include a BA Honours Degree in Counselling Studies and Supervision (a bachelor’s degree), a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, a Foundation Certificate in Bereavement Counselling, membership of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and a Diploma in General Nursing (a nursing qualification).
