Melissa Timlin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Missouri and Michigan, holding MO LPC 2025019340 and MI LPC 6401013333. She brings a decade of clinical experience to her work and practices in Michigan.
Before entering counseling full time, Melissa served ten active-duty years in the U.S. Navy. Her military roles included serving as the Command Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor and as a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Victim Advocate, experience that informs her perspective and practice.
Melissa specializes in helping people manage stress, anxiety, addiction (including substance use and pornography/sexual addiction), grief and loss, motivation and confidence, self-esteem, depression, perimenopause-related concerns, and serious mental illnesses. She is a female therapist, a therapist of color, and identifies as Christian and conservative.
Her clinical approach blends evidence-based therapies with holistic practices. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to address unhelpful patterns, integrates restorative yoga, body-scan meditation, and pranayama for mind-body regulation, and employs Emotionally Focused Therapy principles for couples work that explores attachment styles.
Melissa believes that each person is the expert on their own story and that clients already possess strengths to navigate life’s challenges. She supports clients in building insight and practical strategies that align with their goals and values.
Outside of her professional life, Melissa enjoys time with her husband, their four children, and their pug, Miss Pearl.
