Life has changed quickly for many people, and increased stress and uncertainty can make day-to-day living feel heavier than it once did. Melissa Loudon approaches these challenges with empathy and practical strategies to help adults manage stress, anxiety, depression, relationship tensions, and other common struggles.
Melissa is licensed to practice clinical social work in both Missouri and Kansas; she holds credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri and as a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker in Kansas. She has six years of experience providing therapy services and more than 18 years working in the field of human services in the greater Kansas City area.
Over the course of her career she has served a broad range of people, including adjudicated youth, children and families involved with the child welfare system, adults with substance use concerns, and individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. More recently she has supported adults in forming employment goals and developing concrete strategies to reach them.
Melissa now provides therapy full time and conducts sessions exclusively via telehealth. She works with adults on issues such as job satisfaction, self-esteem and confidence, depression, anxiety, processing past trauma, communication and relationship challenges, family dynamics, grief and loss, and concerns specific to the LGBTQ+ community.
Her therapeutic stance is warm and supportive, grounded in a belief in each person’s dignity and worth. She most often uses cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy, while adapting treatment plans to fit each individual’s needs. Melissa values verbal processing as a way to make difficult experiences more manageable, and she seeks to maintain a nonjudgmental partnership that keeps the client’s values at the center of care. She considers it a privilege to support people through change and is ready to help interested adults get started.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, research and clinical experience indicate that online therapy can be as effective as in-person work.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can meet with their therapist in the format that fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to maintain continuity of care when life is busy or unpredictable.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch providers if they want a different therapeutic fit. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible, practical way to address everyday mental health concerns while fitting treatment into their lives.
