Melinna Perez is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California with more than 10 years of clinical experience. She earned her Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2016, and holds both a Bachelor of Psychology and a Bachelor of English from Mount St. Mary’s University, completed in 2013. As a licensed therapist (CA LMFT 123816), she has completed graduate training and required clinical hours to provide professional care in couples, family, and individual therapy.
Her practice includes work with children, teens, adults, couples, families, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. She has provided individual and group therapy in both office and online formats, and has experience in residential and outpatient settings. Clients she supports present with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, relationship and parenting challenges, teen issues, insomnia, addiction, trauma and abuse, bipolar disorder, grief, intimacy-related concerns, anger management, low self-esteem, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, ADHD, and needs for coaching and personal growth.
Melinna adapts her approach to each person’s needs, drawing from person-centered, holistic, mindfulness-based, humanistic, solution-focused, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She most frequently centers treatment in a person-centered stance - meeting individuals where they are and supporting their process of self-discovery and self-identification.
She recognizes that beginning therapy can be difficult and strives to offer a nonjudgmental space where clients are encouraged to be themselves and express emotions and thoughts openly. Outside of her clinical work she enjoys music, sports, reading, cooking, spending time with family and pets, meditation, and visits to the beach. She looks forward to meeting and working with new clients.
