Matthew Goldreich offers a supportive, non-judgemental space where people can pause to reflect on their patterns of relating to themselves and to others. He guides clients to understand how those patterns developed and to explore routes toward greater self-acceptance and meaningful change.
Therapy with Matthew can be used to address a specific difficulty or to build wider self-awareness. Working collaboratively and at a pace that suits the individual, he helps clients explore and make sense of whatever they are experiencing.
His practice is informed by a psychodynamic approach, which pays attention to how present feelings and behaviours are influenced by past relationships and experiences. He works from the idea that increased self-knowledge reduces inner conflict, making room for acceptance and the possibility of change.
Each session is a space to speak freely without censoring oneself. By attending carefully to the thoughts, feelings and images that arise during the course of treatment, new choices and states of mind can begin to emerge. Matthew offers light direction to help clients stay accountable and feel supported throughout the therapy process.
He is a registered member of the BACP, having completed MSc-level clinical training at the University of Exeter, and he is currently completing further clinical doctoral training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the University of Exeter. He also holds an MSc in Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London. He has three years of clinical experience.
