Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am licensed in California and have 17 years of post-graduate professional work experience.
Welcome to my page. My name is Mary and I have been in the social work field since I was a sophomore in college. My experience has varied from group homes, residential facilities, job coaching, comorbid disorders, homelessness, domestic violence, working in the criminal justice department, trauma, abuse, family dynamics and working in the public sector. I have worked with elementary school aged children, adolescents, teens aging out of the system, adults, elderly and hospice.
I started my private practice in the midst of the pandemic as stress levels rose from fear, job changes, financial issues, childcare/eldercare, relationship issues, racial injustices, air quality, displacement by the wildfires, climate change, the list goes on. I wanted to provide support to those impacted by any and all above combined with interpersonal issues. How do we handle all of this? By providing a listening ear, someone to vent to, plan with. I’m here.
More availability on weekends.

Mary Cabarles is a California-based therapist with 18 years of post-graduate professional experience in social work. She has been involved in the field since she was a sophomore in college, building a wide-ranging background that includes work in group homes, residential facilities, job coaching, services for people with comorbid disorders, homelessness support, domestic violence programs, and roles within the criminal justice system.
Her practice has also addressed trauma and abuse, family dynamics, and public sector work, and she has supported people across the lifespan – from elementary-aged children and adolescents to teens aging out of the system, adults, older adults, and those in hospice care. In private practice she focuses on issues such as trauma and abuse, self-esteem, compassion fatigue, stress, anxiety, addictions, LGBT concerns, relationship and intimacy-related issues, family conflict, grief, career difficulties, and coping with life changes.
Mary launched her private practice during the pandemic as many people faced rising stress from fear, job changes, financial strain, childcare and eldercare pressures, relationship challenges, racial injustices, poor air quality and wildfire displacement, and broader climate-related concerns. Her goal was to offer attentive support – a listening ear, someone to vent to, and a partner in planning – for those carrying these burdens alongside interpersonal struggles.
She is licensed to practice clinical social work in California (LCSW, license number 76807), and brings nearly two decades of direct practice to her work. Mary offers additional availability on weekends to accommodate varied schedules.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life transitions, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most individuals.
One major benefit is the flexibility it provides. People can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best – video calls, phone appointments, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it simpler to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals provide these services, and if someone feels a different match would be better, it is possible to switch therapists. Online therapy can be a practical, accessible option for many seeking support with everyday mental health concerns and relationship matters.
