Luis Roman is a clinician focused on the intersection of communication and mental health. Raised in a Puerto Rican household where raised voices were common and active listening was limited, he became driven to learn more effective ways of connecting with others.
He helps people examine their communication patterns so they can build healthier family interactions and more satisfying intimate relationships. He emphasizes teaching - using psychoeducation to clarify mental health diagnoses and reduce stigma.
Since 2016 he has provided individual, family, and group services for conditions that include bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and adjustment disorders. His practice also addresses situations where mental health concerns co-occur with substance use.
His experience spans PROS programs, residential facilities, and outpatient settings. He supports clients in creating personalized treatment plans focused on individual goals and has assisted people in obtaining and maintaining employment as part of their recovery planning.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Lehman College in the Bronx and a master’s degree from the College of New Rochelle. He is a licensed mental health counselor in New York and has six years of clinical experience, currently practicing in an outpatient clinic in the Bronx.
