Liz Smith practices from a client-centered perspective, meeting each person with unconditional positive regard and a non-judgmental stance. She prioritizes helping people process their experiences and supporting them as they make their own decisions, rather than telling them what to do.
With 10 years of clinical experience, Liz has focused much of her work on substance use, trauma, and LGBTQ+ concerns while also addressing a wide range of challenges including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, eating and sleeping disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, career difficulties, and coping with life changes.
She can take a solution-focused approach when appropriate, but places listening to the client above all else. Liz is trained in EMDR and is comfortable using that modality through telehealth. She frequently integrates Gestalt techniques and tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients explore emotions in the here and now.
Liz earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Capella University and is licensed to practice as a mental health counselor in both Florida and Utah. She provides services in English and Spanish and is based in Florida.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that fits their life and comfort level - by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging - which often makes it easier to keep regular appointments.
Licensed professionals deliver care through these channels, and if someone feels a different therapeutic fit would work better they can switch therapists at any time. For many people, the convenience and accessibility of online sessions make it a practical and effective option for addressing everyday mental health needs.
