As a therapist, I strive to help you sleep better, worry less and enjoy life more! With the help of Guided Imagery, Mindfulness, Trauma with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other related modalities, I use personal insight and professional experience to provide clients with a safe place to be heard, free fears, reduce anxieties, eliminate unwanted behaviors, grow, improve and conquer insomnia. I love empowering others to achieve their goals and dreams and help people better understand themselves and the world they live in so that they can experience more of the joy life has to offer.
My approach as a therapist is compassionate and respectful, honoring each client’s unique strengths and resources to move forward in a process toward positive change and growth. I see children, adolescents, couples, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) Clients, families and adults for various issues including, relationship challenges, supporting new and expectant mothers, eating disorders, adjustment problems, trauma, grief and loss.

Kumi Pledger assists people who want to sleep better, worry less and enjoy life more by combining personal insight with professional experience. She draws on Guided Imagery, Mindfulness, trauma work using Internal Family Systems (IFS), and related modalities to create a therapeutic environment where clients can feel heard and begin reducing anxiety and unwanted behaviors.
Her work focuses on practical change and growth – helping clients free fears, manage insomnia, build self-esteem, and develop healthier coping strategies for stress, depression, addictions, bipolar disorder, and other challenges. Kumi supports clients through relationship difficulties, family conflicts, grief and loss, intimacy-related concerns, parenting challenges, career difficulties, and adjustment to life changes.
She offers a compassionate, respectful approach that honors each person’s unique strengths and resources. Kumi sees children, adolescents, couples, LGBTQ clients, families and adults, and she provides support for issues such as supporting new and expectant mothers, eating disorders, trauma and abuse, and other adjustment problems.
Kumi is trained as a medical doctor and as a licensed clinical professional counselor, holding professional credentials listed as MD and LCPC with license number LC10963. She brings ten years of clinical experience to her practice in Maryland and aims to empower clients to better understand themselves and to experience more of the joy life has to offer.
