Kim Wilksch is an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers and brings both professional training and personal life experience to her practice. She is a mum of adult children and draws on those life experiences alongside her education to inform her therapeutic approach.
Kim works with victims and survivors of domestic and family violence, supporting the many ways these experiences affect grief, loss, and mental health. She also supports people living with chronic pain, and offers focused help for anxiety and depression.
As someone qualified in theology, Kim is able to support Christians who wish to explore the intersection of faith and mental health, while also offering non-religious approaches for those who prefer that option. She tailors her support to individual preferences, providing both conservative and liberal perspectives depending on the client’s needs.
Communication and self-care are central to Kim’s work; she helps clients develop effective communication strategies and build sustainable self-care practices, including approaches that support post-traumatic growth. Her practice includes psychoeducation to help people understand and apply therapeutic tools in everyday life.
Therapeutic methods Kim uses include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused ACT, ACT for Grief and Loss, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy including approaches for First Nations people. She also integrates mindfulness practices – including trauma-sensitive mindfulness – along with positive psychology, strengths-based and person-centred practice, anti-oppressive approaches, and interventions that support post-traumatic growth.
Kim looks forward to working with people who are ready to take steps toward healing and hope.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or coping with life changes, online therapy has been shown to be effective for a large number of clients in ways comparable to in-person sessions.
A major benefit of online therapy is flexibility. Individuals can choose the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it easier to fit therapeutic work into busy lives and varied schedules.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they need a different fit. For many people, virtual sessions provide a practical and accessible route to consistent support while addressing common mental health and life concerns.
