Jo Shenton practises an integrative counselling approach, blending different therapeutic styles so each course of work is shaped to the individual’s needs. In sessions Jo offers a calm, supportive space to explore current circumstances and to work through the challenges a person is facing.
Work together focuses on helping clients uncover their own solutions and on developing practical ways to take greater control of their path toward a happier future. Jo aims to guide people toward positive outcomes while respecting their pace and priorities.
To maintain professional standards Jo takes part in regular supervision, ongoing training and personal development in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Jo’s formal training includes a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Level 6 from Staffordshire University and a Certificate in Counselling from Staffordshire University. She has several years' experience working with individuals and couples and has extensive experience supporting people with addiction, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Jo also has substantial outreach experience in areas such as addiction, substance misuse, suicide ideation and mental health recovery work.
Her aim is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship in which clients feel valued and accepted. Counselling with Jo can help people gain a clearer understanding of themselves, improve relationships, address painful past experiences and move forward with greater confidence.
For many common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or coping with life changes - online therapy can be just as helpful as traditional face-to-face sessions. Research and clinical practice indicate that virtual sessions often produce similar outcomes for these kinds of issues.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the format that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to engage in a way that feels most comfortable.
Therapy delivered online is provided by licensed professionals and, if a different fit is needed at any point, clients are free to switch to another therapist. For many people the combination of effective therapeutic methods and convenient access can make online work an excellent option to consider.
