Jacintha Canary is a South African immigrant who now resides in the United Kingdom and brings more than 25 years of experience in counselling, mental health and wellbeing work.
Her Christian faith is an important part of her identity, and she welcomes people of all faiths, spiritual backgrounds and those without faith. She has practised across family therapy and couple counselling and has supported people with anxiety, domestic abuse, trauma, abandonment, addictions and grief, as well as with resilience, anger, forgiveness and adapting to life changes.
Jacintha has particular experience with cultural transition and the challenges of moving to a new country, family interactions and dynamics, workplace change and community shifts. She uses a person-centred approach - facilitating exploration rather than offering ready-made answers - and supports integration of past and present experiences to promote self-understanding and growth.
In her clinical work she also applies the QSL (Quantum Social Learning) framework and HEAL (Human Experience Augmenting Language) methodology, approaches that use body mapping, attention to sensations and reflective listening to assist self-exploration and healing. She holds a primary teaching qualification, a sports qualification in basketball, a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, a Certificate in the QSL Framework and Methodology (www.iolee.life) and community leadership qualifications.
Jacintha has completed many further courses in resilience, forgiveness, anger and unforgiveness, conflict resolution, mental health, mentoring and coaching. Having been a therapy client herself, she draws on that personal experience to offer an authentic, compassionate presence while walking alongside people on their journey toward improved wellbeing.
