Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a Pluralistic Counsellor based in Scotland. Pluralistic therapy is all about being flexible and adapting to the needs of the individual. Clients are unique and a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for everyone. I start by getting to know the client. How do their difficulties impact their life and what could things be like if those problems weren’t there? I have the skills that enable me to develop a therapeutic relationship with clients. They can talk through and resolve the challenges they are facing. The clients wisdom plus my wisdom is what will make the difference.
Clients may be looking for counselling after trying hard to resolve a problem on their own. Before deciding what will help I explore what has not worked, or worked in part, and recognise the strengths and resources clients bring to their therapy. I believe the client is the expert in themselves. As a pluralistic counsellor with training and experience in a variety of therapeutic approaches I can adapt to many circumstances. My training and experience includes Person-Centred Counselling, CBT, Psychoanalysis/Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Brief Solution-Focussed Approach, amongst others.
I have extensive experience of working with people who have experienced trauma – PTSD and Complex PTSD.
Confidentiality, deep acceptance, and genuine warmth are the main values that underpin my practice. Counselling works by tapping into the clients’ ability to resolve problems, learn and develop through talking to someone else: someone with the right knowledge, skills and experience. Working with anyone starts with developing a therapeutic relationship and the core conditions of empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard help me to do this. I take a neuroscience perspective to understand people and to develop a good working relationship.
I bring the hope and the courage that my clients may not feel they have.

Helen Hampton is a Pluralistic Counsellor based in Scotland who adapts her approach to meet each person’s unique needs. Pluralistic therapy focuses on flexibility rather than a one-size-fits-all model, and Helen begins by exploring how difficulties affect daily life and what might be different if those problems were eased.
She works collaboratively, recognising that the client’s own knowledge combined with her therapeutic skills creates the conditions for change. Helen asks what has helped or not helped so far and identifies the strengths and resources a person brings into therapy.
Helen draws on training and experience across a range of approaches, including Person-Centred Counselling, CBT, Psychoanalysis/Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Brief Solution-Focussed methods, among others. She also takes a neuroscience perspective to inform understanding and to support a strong working relationship.
She has extensive experience supporting people who have experienced trauma, including PTSD and Complex PTSD, and practises with confidentiality, deep acceptance, and genuine warmth at the centre of her work. Helen aims to offer the hope and courage a person may not feel they have and to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
Many people want to know whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or coping with life changes, evidence shows that remote therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – you can choose the way of connecting that suits you best, whether that is a video call, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to work in the format that feels most comfortable.
Therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and if at any point someone feels a different match would work better they can switch to another therapist. Online therapy offers a practical, adaptable way to access qualified support for many everyday mental health concerns.
