Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Hannah Phillips Hale. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia, as well as a Registered Art Therapist, currently working toward Art Therapy Board Certification. I am also currently working on my Infant Mental Health certification, as I spent a great deal of professional time focusing on early child development and the dynamics of family interactions. Though I have been licensed since only 2019, I have over 16 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with individuals of various ages (pregnant mothers and their unborn children, children from birth on and their caretakers, adolescents, teenagers, parents, older individuals), families and couples in a variety of settings (in-home, in office/outpatient, schools, community programs, and more).
I strive to approach others with curiosity and an opportunity to learn while also teaching. I see the therapeutic relationship as a kind of partnership, where both you and I work together to collaborate and determine what is or isn’t working, and what goals are most appropriate for now or for the future. By using a simplistic approach and focusing on the present moment, we often find confidence and motivation more easily, in order to achieve that “low hanging fruit” of achievable goals. Then, we can also address the big picture with further focus on the small and important details.
It is about the process rather than the product. This is the phrase that I like to reference, in regards to our life experiences and within therapy/counseling experiences. As we work toward healing, we often want to find a solution or an answer. Oftentimes, the solutions or answers arise during the process of experiencing and learning. I hope to offer this process of discovery to you, through various therapeutic techniques, and especially through Art Therapy. One does not have to be an artist or have any experience making art, in order to be able to benefit from Art Therapy techniques. In my work, I utilize creative and expressive techniques with clients in order to support a sense of exploration, discovery, and the power that comes with creating. Other approaches and methods that are used in my work include Person-Centered, Supportive and Motivational Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Humanistic/Existential, Mindfulness Based techniques, Psychodynamic Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
Much of my time in the field has focused on working alongside individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, lack of purpose or motivation, low self-esteem/self-concept, managing life changes or stagnancy, and relationship issues/communication challenges. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful tool that can be used both in the counseling experience itself and also in other relationships, as our interactions and learning opportunities ripple out to impact us in other environments and situations. I look forward to potentially meeting you, learning about you, and working to support you, as we move forward in this life!

Hannah Phillips Hale is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, holding license number VA LPC 0701008266. She is a Registered Art Therapist and is working toward Art Therapy Board Certification, while also pursuing certification in Infant Mental Health after spending considerable professional time focused on early child development and family interaction dynamics. She has seven years of experience providing therapy services.
Her clinical work spans a wide range of ages and family structures, including pregnant mothers and their unborn children, children from birth and their caretakers, adolescents and teenagers, parents, older adults, as well as families and couples. Hannah has delivered care in multiple settings, such as in-home services, outpatient clinics, schools, and community programs.
Hannah approaches others with curiosity and a willingness to learn while also offering guidance. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership in which client and therapist work together to identify what is or is not working and to set goals that fit the present moment. By prioritizing simple, practical steps and focusing on immediate, achievable objectives – the “low hanging fruit” – she helps clients build confidence and motivation before addressing larger long-term concerns with attention to important details.
She often references the phrase “it is about the process rather than the product” to describe both life experiences and the counseling journey. Solutions frequently emerge through the experience of learning and reflection, and Hannah aims to facilitate that process of discovery using a variety of therapeutic techniques. Art Therapy is a central element of her practice, and she emphasizes that no prior art experience is required to benefit from creative and expressive approaches that support exploration, insight, and the empowering act of creating.
Hannah integrates multiple modalities in her work, drawing from Person-Centered theory, Supportive and Motivational Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused methods, Humanistic and Existential perspectives, Mindfulness-based techniques, Psychodynamic therapy, Reality Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
Much of her time has focused on supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, lack of purpose or motivation, low self-esteem or self-concept concerns, difficulties managing life changes or periods of stagnation, and relationship or communication challenges. She believes the therapeutic relationship itself can be a powerful tool that influences other relationships and environments as learning and interaction ripple outward. Hannah looks forward to the possibility of meeting clients, learning about their experiences, and offering support as they move forward in this life.
For many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. This parity makes remote care a practical option for people seeking help for these issues.
One of the main advantages of online sessions is flexibility. Clients can connect with licensed professionals in the format that best fits their schedules and comfort level – via video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility often makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy life.
Licensed professionals provide the care, and clients may choose to switch therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible, adaptable path to support while addressing common mental health and life concerns.
