Hamida Parkar welcomes people who have taken the important first step toward recovery and offers a calm, supportive space throughout the therapy process. She is committed to helping clients work through stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, motivation and confidence, and other common concerns using a compassionate, person-centred approach.
Hamida draws on evidence-based, integrated and collaborative methods - including trauma-focused, humanistic, recovery, anti-oppressive, behavioural, ecological family systems, response-based and narrative therapies - to support clients as they build resilience and regain a sense of control over their lives. Her background in crisis support informs a practice that looks beyond immediate problems to the broader impact of life crises and the strengths people use to move forward.
She has five years of experience providing therapy, together with significant experience in related roles: eight years in leadership within suicide prevention and crisis support services, and four years of counselling supporting people through abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, trauma, gender and sexual identity concerns, relationship and self-esteem issues, and other challenges.
Hamida is an Accredited Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and an Approved Victims Services Counsellor with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. She holds a Bachelor degree in Sociology and a Master of Social Work, and has completed certificates in trauma-informed practice, responding to sexual assault and domestic violence, group facilitation, approaches to complex trauma, and crisis support training. She can communicate in English, Urdu, Hindi and Marathi.
Many people wonder whether online therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to access support from home or elsewhere.
Sessions are delivered by licensed professionals and therapists, and if a different match is needed it is possible to switch clinicians. For many people, online therapy provides a practical, approachable route to consistent support and progress toward their goals.
