Gwendolyn Henry, who often goes by Gwen, is a Michigan-based therapist and life coach with 27 years of professional experience. She practices as a licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan, holding an MI LMSW credential (number 6801067541), and combines clinical expertise with a coaching approach to support lasting change.
Over the course of her career she has worked with survivors of sexual abuse and with adults facing depression, anxiety, and many forms of grief. For the past 10 years she has focused significant effort on supporting veterans who experienced trauma related to military service.
Her therapeutic style centers on active listening, sensitivity to each personâs concerns and trauma, and consistent encouragement within a non-judgmental setting. She places a high priority on building a trusting relationship, viewing that trust as essential to healing, learning, and personal growth. Treatment is collaborative: she works with clients to create a plan and then adjusts and reevaluates that plan as work progresses.
Gwen draws on a range of evidence-informed modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Internal Family Systems, grief therapy, breath work for anxiety disorders, approaches for depressive disorders, guided meditation, and art therapy. These tools are applied with attention to each clientâs unique needs and goals.
She welcomes individuals who are ready to take the next step toward a more self-directed and satisfying life and considers it an honor to work alongside them on that journey.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
A key benefit of remote care is flexibility – individuals can connect in the format that fits their life, choosing video appointments, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to schedule and maintain consistent care.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients can change therapists if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people, online therapy offers a practical and effective way to address everyday mental health concerns while accommodating personal schedules and preferences.
