Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and welcome!
I know from experience that sometimes it takes a great deal of courage to take the step to contact a therapist. So, thank you for reading!
I am a graduate of the University of Southern California (also the University of Michigan) with over fifteen years’ experience as a psychotherapist treating individuals, couples/partners, children/adolescents, families and groups. My clinical training was at Saban Community Clinic, treating a diverse array of patients with wide ranging conditions. I enjoyed the team approach at Saban, which included medical and psychiatric practitioners. I have been licensed and in private practice in Los Angeles, CA since 2017.
I offer an individualized approach to therapy, beginning by meeting the client where he/she is in the moment according to the client’s needs. The goal is for you to be able to express yourself, be comfortable and ultimately realize your human potential and be happy in your own skin. There are many ‘schools’ of therapy. Some useful approaches I have found have been:
Person-Centered Therapy: a non-directive, collaborative approach, often called ‘guided discovery’
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): the relationship between emotions, thoughts and behaviors
Solution Focused Brief Therapy: focusing on client strengths, skills and goals
Mindfulness Training: being fully present in the moment without judgment
Psychodynamic/Self-Psychology: self-identity; developing a healthy understanding of who you are
These are brief descriptions. If there is something of interest you know about please let me know and we can discuss. My profession requires 36 hours of continuing education for license renewal every two years.
Some common areas of treatment include:
• Depression and Anxiety (which often occur together)
• Obsessions, Compulsions, Phobias (which tend to have an anxiety basis)
• Personality Disorders
• Mood Disorders
• Trauma and Abuse Survivors; Support and Recovery
• Communication/Intimacy; Relationships; Attachment
• Living an Authentic Life; Self; Identity
• Parenting Support
• Grief Counseling
• Work and Career issues, Stress Management
• Addiction & Recovery (Assessment and Referral)
• Eating Disorders (Assessment and Referral)
• Cultural Diversity Issues
• Sports and Creative Arts Performance
Among my skills is complex differential diagnosis. Since many symptoms overlap more than one diagnostic category (and therefore guide treatment planning), a deeper understanding of the client is important. Treatment doesn’t necessarily have to take a long time. CBT and Mindfulness may provide benefits very quickly. If a condition is beyond my scope of practice I will provide guidance and appropriate referrals.
In addition to being a psychotherapist, I have substantial interests in the creative arts and am a songwriter and musician myself.
I am committed to meeting the client where he/she is in the moment and collaborating on goals to meet his/her needs, provide support and help the client address whatever challenges he/she might face. My approach is to provide warmth, empathy and understanding to help the individual build on his/her strengths and attain the personal growth he/she is committed to accomplishing. Best of luck in your life journey. I look forward to meeting you!

Gregory Harbaugh is a California-based psychotherapist with 17 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples and partners, children and adolescents, families and groups. He holds degrees from the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan, and completed clinical training at Saban Community Clinic where he worked with a diverse range of patients alongside medical and psychiatric colleagues.
He has been licensed and has maintained a private practice in Los Angeles since 2017; his professional credential authorizes him to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California (CA LMFT 100711). Gregory brings an individualized, client-centered approach that begins by meeting each person where they are and collaborating on goals that reflect the client’s needs and values.
His work draws from several therapeutic approaches including person-centered methods – often described as guided discovery – cognitive behavioral therapy that explores the links among thoughts, emotions and behaviors, solution-focused brief therapy which emphasizes strengths and goals, mindfulness training to cultivate present-moment awareness, and psychodynamic/self-psychology perspectives that support healthy identity development.
Common areas of treatment he addresses include depression and anxiety, obsessions and phobias, personality and mood disorders, trauma and abuse recovery, relationship and intimacy concerns, identity and living authentically, parenting support, grief counseling, work and career stress, and assessment or referral for addictions and eating disorders. He also works with cultural diversity issues and supports performance in sports and the creative arts.
Gregory offers skilled differential diagnosis to clarify overlapping symptoms and guide treatment planning, and he notes that some approaches such as CBT and mindfulness can produce benefits relatively quickly. He completes the continuing education required for licensure renewal – 36 hours every two years – and will provide referrals when a condition falls outside his scope of practice.
Outside of clinical work he has substantial interests in the creative arts and is active as a songwriter and musician. His therapeutic style emphasizes warmth, empathy and collaboration, helping clients build on strengths to pursue personal growth and greater well-being. He welcomes the courage it takes to seek help and looks forward to meeting prospective clients.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes – online therapy has been found to offer effectiveness comparable to traditional in-person care. It can be a practical option for those seeking support for everyday mental health issues.
A major benefit is scheduling flexibility. Clients can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best – video sessions, phone calls, live chat or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy life.
Another advantage is access to licensed professionals. Online care is provided by therapists who hold clinical credentials, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful.
Overall, online therapy offers a flexible, accessible way to address many common mental health and life concerns while working with qualified therapists.
