Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Greetings! I am Dr. Donna Daniel from New Mexico (moved from Arizona during covid shutdown), and I would like to support you in your desire to change, improve or fix your situation. In some ways I am rather ‘old school’ having been a counseling professional for more than 30 years; I have seen a lot and experienced quite a range of events, places, work settings and clients over those years. On the other hand, I bring a very fresh and non-stodgy approach to the therapeutic relationship – rather than tell you I practice any particular style or theory of counseling, I will tell you that I bring my whole Self to each session, so am sensing with eyes, ears, energy enters/chakras and intuition how you are doing to determine how best to assist you in each contact we have.
This eclectic approach is based on many theorists’ work, and includes Gestalt Therapy, Rational-Emotive Therapy, Mindfulness, trauma-informed care, thanatology & grief work. Especially the past year, when so many have been triggered for past abuses and betrayals by forced isolation, fears and loss of identity and self-esteem by the global health-related events, we are all grieving our ‘old normal’ to some extent and may need support for our healing.
I am a spiritual more than a religious person, and have practiced Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, a bit of Wicca, studied the Gnostic mystery schools, was briefly with the LDS church, and grew up Baptist. I know from personal experience that faith can be the cornerstone of our recovery and thriving, or it can be the hammer that knocks us down over & over again. No subject is taboo or forbidden with me, although I require that a client be seeking to rid themselves of damaging patterns and relationships; if you do not really want to or feel ready to heal, let’s not start a relationship.
I’ve lived in half a dozen states, traveled extensively for work at military bases abroad in Italy, Germany, England and Japan, and been on three pilgrimages to India. I am married – 21 years – to a wonderful man, and am childless by choice. I lived off-grid for 14 years in AZ and was actively living a sustainable lifestyle, but grew tired of waiting for the apocalypse and wanted to live in a small town and develop relationships with my neighbors. I am thus not a big fan of technology as the centerpiece of daily life, and prefer natural settings to manufactured ones, although I recognize the attractions of urban living. My desire is to facilitate the well-being and spiritual ascension of all persons, one tiny step at a time if necessary. I believe in brief therapy, but am open to cycles of work on various topics and issues.
If this sounds like a relationship you want to try, I will appreciate hearing from you!

Dr. Donna Daniel is a New Mexico-based therapist who relocated from Arizona during the COVID shutdown and brings 35 years of counseling experience to her work. She combines long-standing professional knowledge with a fresh, non-stodgy approach to the therapeutic relationship, attending to verbal and nonverbal cues and bringing her full presence to each session – including observation, intuition, and sensitivity to energy and chakras when appropriate.
Her practice is eclectic and informed by many theorists, drawing on Gestalt therapy, Rational-Emotive therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and thanatology and grief work. She has particular experience helping people through grief, intimacy-related concerns, self-esteem and identity issues, coping with life changes, stress and anxiety, addictions, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, eating and sleeping disorders, parenting and career difficulties, and a range of mood and attention conditions.
Dr. Daniel has lived and worked in many places – including assignments at military bases abroad in Italy, Germany, England and Japan – and has traveled widely, including three pilgrimages to India. She spent 14 years living off-grid in Arizona and practiced a sustainable lifestyle, and she now prefers smaller-town and natural settings while recognizing the attractions of urban life. She is married for 21 years and is childless by choice.
Spiritually oriented more than strictly religious, Dr. Daniel has explored Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, some Wiccan practice, the Gnostic mystery traditions, had a brief time with the LDS church, and was raised Baptist. She understands that faith can support recovery or, at times, contribute to ongoing harm, and she approaches spiritual topics openly without taboo – provided a client is genuinely seeking to move away from damaging patterns and relationships. She believes in brief, goal-focused therapy but remains open to working in cycles on different topics as needed.
Dr. Daniel is licensed to practice professional counseling in New Mexico as an LPCC and in Arizona as an LPC. If this approach and background feel like a fit, she welcomes hearing from prospective clients who are ready to engage in the work of change and healing.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered remotely can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in whatever format suits them best, whether by video call, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to maintain continuity of care during life changes.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and if a different therapeutic fit is desired, clients typically have the option to switch therapists. For many people, virtual sessions offer an accessible and practical path to addressing everyday challenges and working toward healthier patterns.
