Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Deciding to start counselling can be daunting, but with me you’ll be safe. I’ll walk with you on your journey of self-discovery while you explore the tangle of emotions, thoughts and feelings you’re experiencing.
I’ll support you in the safe place, the Therapy Room, where you have the freedom to be You! Together, we’ll carefully uncover underlying emotions, hidden memories and patterns of behaviour from both the past and present. You’ll discover how to unpick and understand the impact they’ve had and may still be having on your life. It’s a bit like peeling the layers off an onion! While peeling your onion, there may be tears, anger, laughter and a plethora of other emotions, but the great thing is you’re not alone, I’ll be peeling it with you!
I work with people who may be struggling to cope with issues including anxiety, domestic abuse, depression and trauma. You won’t be judged, you’ll be heard. I’ll support you while you make sense of WHERE you are, WHO you are and WHERE you want to be, so that you can truly be your ‘Best YOU’ and live Your Best Life!
If you feel you’re on an emotional roller coaster, why don’t you get off the ride? STOP!! Take time to exhale and spend time with YOU! Take a chance and Change your Life FOREVER!

Denise Richards offers a calm, supportive approach for people ready to begin counselling, providing a safe space where clients can begin to explore difficult thoughts and emotions. She accompanies clients through a process of self-discovery, gently helping them untangle feelings, memories and recurring behaviour patterns from both the past and the present.
In the therapy room she creates room for honesty and emotional expression – tears, anger, laughter and everything in between are all part of the work. Denise works alongside clients as they examine how past experiences and current responses have shaped their lives, helping them to understand and unpick those influences so they can move toward the life they want.
She sees people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, domestic abuse, depression and trauma, and offers non-judgemental listening and practical support as clients make sense of where they are, who they are and where they want to go. Denise aims to support each person to become their best self and to live a more fulfilling life.
As an Integrative Counsellor she uses a range of therapeutic theories and adapts her approach to suit each individual – believing that one size does not fit all. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (a postgraduate qualification in counselling), a Diploma and a Certificate in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, and she is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Her additional training includes courses such as Road Traffic Victims Training, Psychiatry Psychodynamics and Psychopathology, Time-Limited Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Working with Children & Young People parts 1 and 2. Denise has six years of clinical experience and has worked therapeutically with organisations including 1 in 4, CPPD Low-Cost Service, Women’s Aid, Hestia, Settle, an LEA academy and in private practice.
She is a therapist of colour, identifies as female, is Christian and brings an older perspective to her clinical work while practising in the United Kingdom.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and the challenges that come with life changes – online therapy has been found to be as effective as in-person counselling. It can be a practical option for people seeking support for these types of issues.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best – through video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit therapy around work, family and other commitments.
Each therapist available is a licensed professional, and if someone feels they need a different fit they can change therapists at any time. Online therapy offers accessible, adaptable support for people looking to work on common mental health and relationship concerns.
