David O’Hara is a Person-Centred Counsellor based in the United Kingdom, with nearly five years' post-qualification experience and more than 15 years working in mental health.
Before training as a therapist he worked across a range of settings including care homes, forensic step-down services, and mental health charities, supporting adults with complex needs such as personality disorders, addiction, and enduring mental health issues.
His work is grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, a non-directive approach based on empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. He does not judge, diagnose, or attempt to “fix” clients - instead he walks alongside them, offering space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels right for the individual.
Therapy with David is collaborative. He trusts that clients are the experts in their own lives and supports them in reconnecting with a sense of direction, clarity, and self-trust. Over time many people find this approach helps them feel more grounded, empowered, and at ease with themselves.
He works with adults aged 18 and over and has particular experience supporting addiction and substance use, anxiety and depression, low self-esteem or a sense of being lost, neurodivergence, and LGB identities with LGBTQ+ affirming support. His practice is neurodivergent-affirming, LGB-friendly, and trauma-aware.
Those considering therapy - whether in crisis, feeling stuck, or wanting space to understand themselves more deeply - can reach out to David O’Hara to start the process.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can really make a difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main benefits is flexibility - people can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best, whether that is a video call, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to fit therapy into busy lives.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may choose to switch to a different therapist at any time if they would prefer a different fit.
