David Bonfanti

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist having worked in the mental health field approximately 25 years , having worked with most populations. My approach is straightforward: ” The problem is not the problem, the reaction to the problem is the problem.” We can not change the past, we must accept what has happened, but with a renewed sense of empowerment and hope we can forge ahead to experience the quality of life we want and deserve. We often feel worse when we commence therapy, as self-examination is painful at times. That said, in the end, we will hopefully develop the skill set to manage whatever challenges come our way. Let’s take the judgment out of our lives and move forward in the high calling of our daily lives.

About

David Bonfanti is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Arizona and California with 20 years of experience in the mental health field, and he has worked with most populations. His approach is direct and practical, grounded in a simple guiding idea he often shares – “The problem is not the problem, the reaction to the problem is the problem.”

He emphasizes acceptance of what cannot be changed while helping people regain a sense of empowerment and hope so they can move forward toward the quality of life they want and deserve. Sessions focus on building practical skills and perspective rather than assigning blame.

David is candid about the therapy process: self-examination can feel painful and people sometimes feel worse before they feel better. With time and practice, clients can develop the tools to handle future challenges, reduce judgment in their daily lives, and pursue the responsibilities and rewards of their everyday roles with greater clarity.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For a range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adjusting to life changes – online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions. One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that best fits their needs and schedule, whether through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to integrate care into a busy life. All therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they decide a different fit would be better. Online therapy can be a practical, accessible way to address everyday mental health needs while maintaining a consistent course of care.
